"Wonder" By R.J. Palacio

Wonder by R.J. Palacio, a children’s book but was suggested by the Bookstore Chapters and Verses for Adults. I did wonder for a moment what could be in it, do I have the patience to read a children’s book. ( I was tired of reading to the nine year old who had an attention span of five seconds), curiosity got the better and I picked a copy.

What a fantastic book, which makes so many emotions, and thoughts to run across your mind. You are left with the feeling that you should share this with your child. So I suggested the thirteen year old to read it. The thirteen year old took one look at the back page and said “are you serious it sounds depressive so I can’t read it”.

She watched me take the book out and read it and make notes. It was important for me that some of the little lessons in the book should be incorporated into my life. One week later, I found my 13 year old with her nose deep into the pages. So we finished the book and got into a discussion and an agreement that as far as we could we should choose kind over right.

A quote from Book:

MR. BROWNE'S SEPTEMBER PRECEPT:

WHEN GIVEN THE CHOICE BETWEEN BEING

RIGHT AND BEING KIND, CHOOSE KIND.”

No Miles to Five Kms!

New Year resolutions, losing weight and the likes I joined a new workout class with a gym buddy. In a moment of madness,my gym buddy suggested we join morning runs with a group. I was not sure about the whole thing but agreed to try it out; worse scenario I could always get an auto home...

I was the kid who never ran in school for some reason. I managed my life being the reserve in races or just skipping the sports meet entirely. So we set off in our morning run, and I took one look at the group and knew it was a mistake. These people looked willing to run for the world. We started off with a light jog and I tried to run back, and there was no friendly auto guy to take me back, there was no one on the road. My gym buddy held my hand and pulled me towards the group, I had no choice but to follow.

I walked, I ran and I had so much of cheering, and motivation by the group. The end of that one hour, the trainer looked at me and said " I honestly did not expect you to manage; but you managed all your timings less than what I predicted every single time. "

I did the hardest thing in my whole life is to put on those shoes and run, the end feeling was of the best high....

This October!

Deepavali was festive as always with new clothes, too many sweets and cracker bursting by kids.

Only hitch was when I slipped and fell on some water and hurt my knee, so that was bye bye zumba and yoga for about ten days now. DH was kind enough to be worried that the tiles did not break after me falling on them.

Another couple of months and the year will end. It rushes so fast there is no time to breath. The list of resolution just another list which has gathered and will bite the dust!

You!

Its that time of the year! Where resolutions are made yet again to break. I called up the aerobics instructor and wished a happy new year and when is she re-opening. She goes who is this and when i say its me. She screams "YOU!". Oh well she did not have to break my ear drums.

I got a message from a friend how great the new year first working day was, so much positivity. I had a crappy day and its only the third day of the year. Oh well it cant get any worse can it. Then again oh yes it just did! I forgot to send samples that was requested urgently today. I had an irate client who asked me a million questions on things I was clueless. How easy it is to keep lying and pretend that you really do know about things you dont. phew

The only nice thing of the day was meeting two friends for a short time and seeing a new born baby. Babies are so adorable and the cutest and gives you hope.

Hope all of you have had a better day?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all the lovely bloggers!

Dear Blog
I have neglected you this year more than others. I dont know if I am running out of things to say because i am boring or lazy, it must be a combination of both. Hopefully I will get my act right and do something constructive next year!

Three more months………

Christmas in three more months, another year another set of resolutions. So there after all the power yoga, gyming, aerobics and eating healthy (all this in my imaginary world I was at last a staggering size eight). After absolutely doing nothing and eating away I decided its time to lose that last six kgs (hemm did I not say five kgs last year this time).

Saturday evening I started exercising. Went for a jog which left me panting for more (Not). So damn tired had to get back within twenty minutes. There I was in my newly exercised feeling and so tired. Where is the glow (with all the blood rushing to my face) I looked not healthily glowing but sickeningly wheezing.

I fell asleep, I mean all this serious shock the body has been through has put it into serious damage mode. Woke up with a start and wandered downstairs and ate a Twix bar……..Great since all the jogging with eating chocolate gives me a Fat chance of getting my goals. (It’s so ironic the fat word comes again)

These days when I go anywhere I seem to see that all women are extremely thin. Ok not all at least the majority of them. It must be the obsession of all this I am hallucinating sometimes. The other day while at hospital had a brain wave and asked H if I could spend my savings to have liposuction. Durdans had a poster up about some new high tech liposuction blah blah.. Obviously he was so encouraging about it. I got scolded nicely for even thinking about such mad ideas. …..He was nice enough to buy me a walnut brownie to cheer me up…..

New Year resolutions!

The festive Season and Eating seem to be on par with each other. There have been too many Christmas parties get together and and birthday parties all thrown in to one over the past week. I am worried about my health (and physical appearance) which must be bordering on some dangerous sugar levels. Not that it has made me think twice about eating.

Anyways its time to do the resolution thing although never seems to work
1. All the better to put down reduce eating out whether season or not for the new years resolution no 1
2 Stop visiting shops and picking stuff up and exchanging next day
3Reduce shopping
4Reduce shopping with a big R
5Write accounts expenses of money
6 Be very patient and serene mommy at all times and not have panic attacks when the kids play up
7 handle kids with the mental state of adult and not manipulative kid
8 Read up all aspects of school work before work comes so don’t have to get confused or complicate life with year 3 homework
9 Go to aerobics like a prayer
10 Pray regularly
11 Reduce numbers of shoes
12 Reduce numbers of handbags
13 reduce the wardrobe of clothes
14 change wardrobe ( look at resolution no3,4, 11,12, and 13)
15 Do not complicate life by saying yes to everyone else’s plan
16 Say no when u can’t tolerate in laws madness
17 Go to the spa
18 Be nice and tolerant to nasty colleagues ( not necessarily can break whenever feel like)
19 Clean wardrobes from the hurricane effect
20 Take time off work for self time
21 Go on vacations regularly

Oh damn need to get back to work!
